Ever thought of selling your special peanut butter cookies or your grandma's delicious sweet potato pie? Anyone can be a home-based baker. You don't have to have a big fancy kitchen just a passion for preparing tasty baked goods and a willingness to invest in yourself. How to Operate a Home-Based Bakery is an online course for bakers, candy makers or anyone who wants to start a small bakery business. Today, there are 11 states that allow home-based bakers to sell their baked goods directly to the public: Iowa, Kentucky, Maine, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, Virginia, Vermont; and numerous statewide counties across the nation that allow home-based baking.

The goal of the course is to provide the student with an understanding of how to operate a home-based bakery and prepare baked goods in compliance with the rules and regulations set by their federal/state/local regulatory agency. Course materials and readings are available online.

Just think, that recipe you've been hoarding may be just the ticket you need to create profits from your kitchen! Throughout the years there have been local bakers who provided delicious fresh baked goods for their community.

Make 2009 the year you start your home-based bakery!
